I teach English Literature. However my areas of interest overlap the disciplines of Women's Studies, Kerala Studies and Minority Studies. I did my PhD (in the broad discipline of English Language and Literature) on the topic Purdah in the Subcontinental Novel in English, following which I undertook 2 UGC minor Research Projects on popular literary stereotypes about the Muslim woman and on the construction of Muslim female subjectivity in hegemonic religious discourses in Kerala.
